On April 22, 2010, millions of girls and boys ages 8 to 18 will go to work with a parent or mentor for Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work^® Day! It’s a national event dedicated to your ideas, goals, and dreams. These pages will help you get ready for the Day.

Here are a few ideas to help get ready for the big event:

Ask about going to work.
Find a mentor.
Write down questions.
Tell your friends.
Tell your school.

Ask about going to work:
Talk to your parents about going to work with them. If you can't go with one of them, ask for help finding a family friend or neighbor who you can go with. Ask the adult you’re going with to visit the Parents and Mentors section of the website to help them prepare for the Day.

Find a mentor:
If you’re not interested in going to work with Mom or Dad, ask them to help you find a mentor. Is there a specific field or job you want to learn more about? Look for businesses or organizations in your community that do those jobs, and ask if you can visit them for Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work^® Day.

Write down questions:
Start writing down questions you want to ask people at work on Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work^® Day. What do they do all day? Did they have to go to college to do this job?

Tell your friends:
Let your friends and other girls and boys in your community know about this great opportunity! You can write to a local workplace, telling them you’re interested in their work and asking if they could host a group of students on April 23.

Tell your school:
Write a letter with your parents to your teacher or principal letting them know you’ll be going to work on April 23. Remember to let them know in advance, so you can get your homework early, or arrange an extra credit project about spending the day at work.
